N. Srinivasan had been a central banker and development banker for 30 years in Reserve Bank of India and NABARD. He holds a master’s degree in economics. Over the last ten years, he has been involved in design, supervision and evaluation of policy, strategy and implementation of several development finance and rural development projects and building institutions in India and abroad. His areas of interest are development banking, microfinance and rural finance, livelihoods and financial inclusion. He has authored Microfinance India SOS Reports for four years which are regarded as reference material for the sector. He has jointly authored the State of India’s Livelihoods report for the years 2015 to 2017 besides contributing to many other books as a joint author. He currently serves as an indpendent director, apart from Equitas Small Finance Bank, on the boards three companies, three development trusts. He has been a member of the Indian Microfinance Equity Fund supervisory board (SIDBI/GOI) for over three years. As an international expert on development finance and livelihoods, he continues to work with World Bank, IFAD, GIZ, KFW, Microsave and other institutions as a consultant and advisor.
Sunil Gulati is the non-executive Chairman of Merisis Advisors, a boutique investment bank and is an Independent Director on the Boards of Fincare Small Finance Bank; Thirumeni Finance (Varthana), Visage Holdings and Finance (Kinara Capital), CoinTribe Technologies, and Empays Payment Services. Sunil Gulati has three decades of global experience in the banking industry across investment banking, corporate finance, relationship management, risk management and corporate strategy. In the last 15 years, Sunil was a key member (Chief Risk Officer) of the management teams at RBL Bank Ltd, Yes Bank and ING Baring Business, India. Sunil headed the GE Commercial Finance business for a short period. he headed the ING Barings business in India and was part of the core team that helped ING acquire a controlling stake in Vysya Bank.
Dr. Venkatesh Tagat is a post Graduate in Agronomy from Indian Agricultural research Institute, New Delhi and Ph. D in Soil and Water Management from the same institute. He has also done DSE from Germany in Land Use Planning for Rural Development and Monitoring Evaluation in Development Projects. He has recently retired as Chief General Manager, Business Initiatives Department of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Head Office, Mumbai. He had a stint as CGM, Bengaluru Regional Office. He was also Director on the Board of National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd Mumbai and also a member on the Inter-Ministerial Group on Agricultural Marketing, New Delhi. During his tenure with NABARD he has formulated a policy for people centred institutions for managing value chain systems, collaboration with international funding organizations viz.GIZ, KfW under Umbrella Project for NaturalResourcesManagement.
He has done significant work in the area of formulation of guidelines on watershed development. In his professional experience, he has handled finance portfolio of US $ 2.1 billion in loans to Cooperatives and Public sector corporations. He was a member/ advisor to various Central and State government committees in the area of Infrastructure Development Assistance for central/state owned entities.
Jyotsna Krishnan has over 12 years of experience the investment sector, precisely investments in early stage ventures. In particular, Jyotsna has spent considerable time with low income communities and has translated her admiration for these communities into concrete observations that formed the basis for Elevar’s Equitys’ investments in companies such as Varthana, Samunnati and Credit Mantri. Jyotsna also works closely with many of Elevar’s portfolio companies particularly when it comes to strategy, customer focus and financing.
Mahendran Balachandran has vast experience in the investment sector,and brings with him two decades of experiences in technology companies, including Apple. He holds a management degree from IIM Bangalore and a B. Tech degree from NIT Warangal. He is the lead investor and serves on the board of various companies engaged in healthcare and technology sector. Prior to venture investing, he was the Country General Manager of Apple, India; Chief Operating Officer of CoSystems (Telecom & Datacom Company); and General Manager of Tektronix India.
Akshay has over 12 years of experience in private equity and investment banking. He joined responsAbility in 2012 and leads the fund’s efforts in Asia Pacific for private equity investments in food and agriculture in the mid-market range. Prior to responsAbility, he worked for three years at a mid-market, sector-agnostic private equity fund, and made four growth equity investments at IFCI Venture Capital Funds Ltd. He also has three years’ experience in investment banking (equity capital markets), doing public market transactions while working for leading domestic investment banks, including Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Akshay has earned an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Pune. Head of private equity for Asia Pacific in food & agriculture and Director.
Rekha is responsible for determining Nuveen’s (a TIAA company) Impact Investment strategy across sectors, asset classes, and regions. She originates and underwrites new deals and manages impact investments to execute Nuveen’s commitment across thematic areas of Affordable Housing, Inclusive Growth and Resource Efficiency. She also oversees a multi-asset class impact investing portfolio which includes private equity, private real estate, mortgages and fund investments.
Prior to joining Nuveen in 2012, she worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a vice president in their Institutional Investment Group. She has also held various positions at Merrill Lynch in Institutional Investments, and Investment Oversight and Risk Management.
Rekha holds a BA in economics from Yale University and an MBA with a specialization in financial instruments & markets, and social innovation & impact from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, and a Certified Investment Management analyst (CIMA®). Rekha is a board member of Aeris, a non-profit organization that helps investors make and monitor mission investments.
Anil is a banker with over 27 years of experience. He has worked in entities like Canara Bank and ICICI Bank. He embarked on a journey in Rural & Agri finance from 2007 onwards as Founder Trustee of IFMR Trust, wherein he was involved in designing and deploying a local financial institution model called “KGFS- Khetriya Gramin Financial Services”
Having built a successful model with over 220 branches and 500 K customer / 1200 people organisation, Anil ventured into an entrepreneurial venture by starting SAMUNNATI – a non-bank finance company focussed exclusively on Agriculture with focus on Small Holder Farmers. In it’s journey of little over three years, Samunnati is already in 12 states with a cumulative disbursement of over Rs. 800 crores touching about 1 million farmers.
Anil has been awarded as the Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 by TiE Chennai and also the Best Social Entrepreneur Award by Hand in Hand at the Global Social Entrepreneurship Programme 2018.
